Tamil movie ‘Intelligent’ earns Rs 2 crore in first week

Newly released south Indian movie ‘Intelligent’ made a total business of Rs 2 crore in first week. The film released on about 500 screens in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Though the movie hit a good number of screens in its home state, it faced box office competition with the Telugu version of Bollywood movie ‘Padmavati’. Also the adjacently released Hindi film ‘PadMan’ affected the film’s performance in the southern part of India.

Featuring renowned Telugu actor Sai Dharam Tej in leading role, the latest Tollywood film witnessed poor occupancy on the opening day. Box office clash with the Hindi film ‘PadMan’ impacted the movie’s performance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Telugu language movie received dull response from the audience in Telugu speaking states. Competing with the high-budget Hindi movie, Telugu film ‘Intelligent’ found it quite tough to divert a great number of audience in the cinema halls.

Though Sai Dharam Tej has a huge fan following in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, most of the people preferred to watch the newly released Bollywood movies ‘PadMan’ and ‘Padmavati’. Releasing on more than 2500 screens in India, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial collected more than Rs 250 crore in the two weeks. As the movie was released in Tamil and Telugu languages, it received helm response from audience in Tamil Nadu and Telugu speaking regions of the country.

Featuring Shahid Kapoor, Ranvir Singh and Deepika Padukone in main roles, the epic film continued to receive huge response from cinema lovers in the opening week. The public response gradually declined in the 2nd week. After the craze for controversial movie ‘Padmavati’ dropped down, Hindi film ‘PadMan’ released across the nation on 9th February 2018. Sai Dharam Tej’s film competed against this Bollywood movie which surpassed Rs 50 crore box office mark in first week.

Performance of ‘Intelligent’ movie was not impressive in the domestic market. The film earned Rs 52 lakhs in Nizam. It did not manage to attract a big number of audience in Telugu speaking areas and collected Rs 30 lakhs in Ceeded. Receiving moderate response from cinema lovers in Uttarandhra, the Tollywood movie earned Rs 26 lakhs. Performance of the film was worst in Nellore where it earned just Rs 8 lakhs. Though most of the people praised the film, critics gave mixed feedback.
